Renee Lalique was a French artist who explored art nouveau and art deco
styles in his glassware creations. His talents were recognized at a young age and he became the apprentice of the French jeweler, Lois Aucoc until be turned 21.
Lalique began manufacturing for himself shortly after is a well equipped workshop. He was known to use the most
innovative production methods available giving his work a mass market.
At the apex of his productiveness over 600 employees worked under in Lalique's factories. He was considered one of the first to bring art to the mass market but some criticized the commercial nature of his enterprise.
People were not concerned about the quantities of his works released. It was his ability to design that captured people's imagination. He recreated natural forms in glass based on human, animal and plant inspirations. Apart from his glass work other pieces were created using precious gems, coral, ivory and other natural treasures. Many items made were jewelery created with the expertise gained in his former training.
His crystal ornaments and other collectibles fetch premium prices in
