Swarovski Panda Ornaments
2008 Endangered Wildlife Series
Pandas are one of the creatures from the endangered wildlife Swarovski limited series. Over the years between 2008 and 2010 a different endangered animal set will be sold as part of the Swarovski Crystal Society (SCS) trilogy editions. As always they will be especially symbolic and emotive.
2008 saw the release of the three panda ornaments with a further bamboo shoot decoration for the pandas to snack on. They will only be offered in the 2008 Swarovski limited tradition. The set comprises of the large mother, her baby and an SCS member only cub. Mother and cub look exquisite positioned together or apart. The small bamboo sprig can be held by the mother or positioned separately. It is included with the mother panda. The limited CSC cub also holds a bamboo shoot in it's paw.
Swarovski have used both clear crystal and black diamond as the base material before faceting the surface and including a pair of jet black crystal eyes. The new slogan to match this wildlife series is "See the Wonder...Feel the brilliance... Touch the World" Each purchase will result in Swarovski using a portion of the proceeds in it's water education program which teaches school children about the vital role of rivers as aquatic habitats.
The panda was a careful choice for this series. Due to it's use in the WWF logo the panda has become a symbol of endangered wildlife. Swarovski also chose the panda as mascot for it's own environmental program. With the Beijing Olympics soon underway this Chinese animal will undoubtedly receive further recognition as a species in decline.
Heinz Tabertshofer was the designer for these pandas and I am sure you will agree he has captured them perfectly in crystal for collector to enjoy.
Retired Swarovski Pandas From Past Years
There are also other panda figurines released before 2008. There is a panda mother and cub, both of which have been retired from production.
The crystal ornaments for sale above are all available from eBay.
